Fresh revelations in Kanumba death probe

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s premier film star, Steven Kanumba, died of a brain injury caused by a sudden blow to the head. One of the doctors who examined Kanumba’s body at Muhimbili National Hospital hinted that the actor died on the spot after suffering such severe brain damage that he collapsed and stopped breathing.

Kanumba died on Saturday in his room in a dramatic turn of events that many of his fans have yet to come to terms with.

On the night he died, the 28-year-old actor was reportedly with 18-year-old Elizabeth Michael, popularly known as Lulu, who is being interrogated at Kinondoni regional police headquarters at Oysterbay in Dar es Salaam.
Kanumba’s sudden death has sent shockwaves across the country, East Africa and West Africa, particularly Ghana and Nigeria, where he had achieved prominence in the continent’s leading film industry, Nollywood. He had returned home from a trip to Ghana just a few days before his death.

News of his death started spreading in the wee hours through mobile phone text messaging and went abuzz on social networks and electronic media. His Sinza home was full of mourners of all ages and walks of life by 7am.
President Jakaya Kikwete joined mourners on Sunday, calling the fallen star a brilliant ambassador who sold Tanzania far and wide through the screen.

The President said he had received the news of Kanumba’s death with “shock and sadness” and promised to honour the promises he made to the delegation from Tanzania’s film industry that visited him recently at State House. Kanumba was in the delegation.

During interviews with Kanumba’s close friends and fellow actors, The Citizen learnt that “The Great”, as he was popularly known, died only a heartbeat away from achieving his dream of working in Hollywood.
The actor was also reportedly longing to start a family, so much so that, in his last days, he had taken to befriending children and making movies featuring and targeting young audiences.

Kanumba’s mother, Ms Flora Mutegoa, who was in Kagera region when the news of her son’s death hit the airwaves, arrived in Dar es Salaam on Sunday and his father, Mr Charles Kanumba, was expected last evening.

His mother told reporters that her son called her a few hours before his death and asked her to come over for an important chat and farewell as he was to travel to the US, where he had won an opportunity to take part in a film.
Kanumba’s mother, who doubled up as a close friend and confidant of the artiste, said she was devastated by the news. “This is one of the worst moments in my life,” she said.

Steven Kanumba died in his prime. He was on top of his game in Tanzania’s local film industry, Tollywood, had already made his presence felt in Nollywood and was heading to Hollywood.

In an ironical turn of events, though, one of Tanzania’s most promising artistes will be laid to rest today at Kinondoni cemetery in Dar es Salaam—a decision reached collectively by his family and friends and movie industry stakeholders in honour of his huge talent and following beyond the country’s borders.

Fans can pay their last respects starting at 9am at Leaders’ club in Kinondoni but the funeral service proper begins at 10am.  The burial is scheduled for 4pm.

Abiria 39 wanusurika ajali ya ndege ATCL

WATU 39 waliokuwa wakisafiri kwa ndege ya Shirika la Ndege Tanzania (ATCL), kutoka Kigoma kuelekea Tabora na baadaye Dar es Salaam, wamenusurika kifo baada ya ndege waliyokuwa wakisafiria aina ya Dash  8 Q300 kushindwa kuruka na kuingia porini.

Ndege hiyo namba 5H - MWG iliyokuwa na mruko namba TC 119, ilivunjika vipande kadhaa kabla ya zimamoto kufika kudhibiti uwezekano wa kuteketea kwa moto.

Akizungumza na waandishi wa habari Dar es Salaam jana, Naibu Waziri wa Uchukuzi, Athumani Mfutakamba alisema ndege hiyo ilikuwa na abiria 35 na wafanyakazi wanne.

“Wote wametoka kwenye ndege hiyo wakiwa salama na wamepelekwa hotelini Kigoma wakati ATCL ikifanya mpango wa kuwasafirisha kwenda Dar es Salaam,” alisema Mfutakamba.

Hata hivyo, Naibu Waziri huyo hakueleza chanzo cha ajali hiyo kwa maelezo kwamba uchunguzi bado unaendelea.
Lakini Kaimu Kamanda wa Polisi Mkoa wa Kigoma, Kihenya Kihenya alisema chanzo cha ajali hiyo ni ndege kushindwa kuruka na kuacha njia kisha kuingia porini.

Alisema sababu za kushindwa kuruka, zilitokana na matope yaliyokuwa yametapakaa katika eneo hilo la kiwanja kiasi cha kuifanya ipoteze mwelekeo.“Ilivutwa pembeni kutokana na njia ya kurukia kuwa na matope na ndiyo maana ilipoteza mwelekeo wake wa kawaida. Hali hiyo imesababisha bawa moja la upande wa kulia kukatika kabisa, lakini wasafiri wote wametoka salama na hakuna hata mmoja aliyekufa.”

Abiria wasimulia
Wakati Kaimu RPC akizungumzia matope kama mojawapo ya chanzo cha ajali hiyo, baadhi ya abiria waliokuwamo ndani ya ndege hiyo walikuwa na maelezo tofauti.

Askofu wa Kanisa la African Inland Church (AIC), Jimbo la Tabora, Askofu Silas Kezakubi na mkewe, Yunis Kezakubi waliokuwa wakisafiri kutoka Dar es Salaam kwenda Tabora kupitia Mji wa Kigoma walieleza kuwa hali ya taharuki  ilianza kujitokeza mapema wakati ndege hiyo ilipokuwa ikitua katika Uwanja wa Ndege Kigoma saa 3.45 asubuhi.

“Nilianza kuona hali ya wasiwasi mapema tu wakati ndege ikitua kwa sababu rubani alikuwa akifunga breki za ajabuajabu tofauti na hali ya kawaida ambayo nimeizoea kutokana na kupanda ndege mara kwa mara. Baada ya kuanza kuondoka sasa tukielekea Tabora ili sisi tubaki pale ndipo haya matatizo yalipotokea.”

Alisema wakati ndege hiyo ikijiandaa kushika kasi ili iweze kuruka, ilishindwa na kusimama ghafla lakini ikafanikiwa kuondoka tena kwa kasi yake ya kawaida hadi eneo la kurukia lakini ikishindwa kupaa.

“Nakumbuka ikiwa katika eneo la kurukia nilishtuka kusikia ikifunga breki za ghafla kwa mara nyingine lakini, ikashindwa kusimama na ndipo wahudumu wa ndege wakatutangazia kwamba ndege ina hitilafu na sisi wasafiri tujiandae kutoka ndani ya ndege hiyo,” alisema Askofu Kezakubi.

Kwa upande wake, Mbunge wa Kasulu Vijijini (NCCR-Mageuzi), Agripina Zaituni Buyogela aliyekuwa akisafiri kutoka Kigoma kwenda Dar es Salaam alisema ndege hiyo ilionekana kuwa na matatizo mapema kwa sababu ilikuwa inaonyesha kushindwa kuondoka kama ilivyozoeleka.

Msafiri mwingine, Mustafa Yamungu aliyekuwa akielekea Dar es Salaam alisema wakati ndege hiyo ikiwa inaanza kushika kasi tayari kwa kuruka, ilishindwa kuondoka na hatimaye kusimama kabla ya kuanza tena kuondoka kwa kasi hadi ajali hiyo ilipotokea.

“Baada ya ndege kushindwa kuruka na kujikuta ikivamia pori na kuvunjikavunjika vipande hasa bawa lake, tulipata taarifa kwamba kuna propela moja ilikuwa haizunguki vizuri na pengine ndiyo maana ilikuwa inakwamakwama na kushindwa kuruka vizuri,” alisema Yamungu.

Ndege hiyo ilikuwa ikiendeshwa na Kapteni Emmanuel Mshana akiwa na msaidizi wake, Mbwali Masesa.
Hii ni ajali ya pili kutokea katika uwanja huo katika kipindi cha miaka sita baada ya mwaka 2006 ndege ya Umoja wa Mataifa (UN) aina ya Boing 737 iliyokuwa ikitoka DRC ikuanguka.

Aidha, ni ajali ya pili kwa ndege za ATCL katika kipindi cha miaka miwili baada ya ile ya Februari 2010, ambayo abiria 40 walinusurika kufa baada ya ndege yake aina ya Boeing 737 iliyokuwa ikitokea Dar es Salaam kupata ajali wakati ikitua katika Uwanja wa Ndege wa Mwanza.

Chanzo cha ajali hiyo kilielezwa kuwa ni ndege hiyo kuacha njia na kusababisha tairi za mbele kung’oka kabla ya kusimama nje ya barabara yake ya kawaida.
ATCL iliyoanzishwa baada ya lililokuwa Shirika la Ndege la Tanzania (ATC) kuingia ubia na Shirika la Ndege la Afrika Kusini (SAA) mwaka 2002.

ATC ni moja ya mashirika ya ndege yaliyoonyesha kukua kwa kasi miaka ya 1980 na 1990 lakini lilianza kuyumba kutokana na uendeshaji mbovu na hali ikawa mbaya zaidi baada ya kuingia ubia na SAA na ilivunja mkataba huo Septemba 2006 baada ya kubaini kuwa ATCL inazidi kudidimia.

ATCL ilirejeshwa mikononi mwa menejimenti ya kizalendo ambayo ilikuwa inakabiliwa na changamoto nyingi zikiwemo za madeni makubwa, ukosefu wa fedha ikiwemo za kulipa mishahara ya wafanyakazi na kutokuwa na ndege zinazofanya kazi.
Miaka mitatu iliyopita, Serikali ilikuwa kwenye mkakati wa kuingia ubia mwingine na China lakini mpango huo uliyeyuka kimyakimya.

Kuzaliwa kwa ATC
ATC ilianzishwa Machi 10, 1977 chini ya Sheria ya Mashirika ya Umma ya mwaka 1969, baada ya kuvunjika kwa iliyokuwa Jumuiya ya Afrika Mashariki mwaka 1977.

ATC lilianzisha safari za ndani mara moja kuziba pengo lililoachwa na East African Airways (EAA), kwa kuanza safari za ndege za ndani na kwenda nchi jirani, kabla ya kuanza huduma ya usafiri kwenda Dubai.
Lilianza kazi na ndege tatu, moja aina ya DC-9 na mbili aina ya Fokker Friendships F27 ambazo zilitoa huduma za usafiri wa ndani na nchi jirani.

Miaka ya 1980 na 1990, liliweza kufanya safari za Ulaya na India lakini kutokana na maandalizi hafifu safari hizo zilizorota.

Serikali ilinunua ndege nyingine na kuifanya ATC kutengeneza faida katika kipindi cha mwaka 1983 hadi 1985.
Lakini kuanzia mwaka 1986, utendaji ulianza kushuka kutokana na sababu mbalimbali ikiwamo menejimenti kushindwa kuendesha shirika.

Katika kipindi hicho, moja ya mambo yaliyokuwa yakihubiriwa na Benki ya Dunia (WB) katika kukuza uchumi hasa wa nchi zinazoendelea ni ubinafsishaji, Tanzania nayo iliingiza ATC kwenye mkumbo ndipo Serikali ikaingia mkataba na SAA.

Mmoja wa madaktari hao ambaye aliomba jina lake lisitajwe gazetini alisema waligundua tatizo hilo baada ya kumfanyia uchunguzi huo kwa zaidi ya saa mbili.

“Tulianza kuufanyia uchunguzi mwili wa marehemu kuanzia saa 4:00 asubuhi hadi saa 6:45 mchana na tukagundua kuwa marehemu alifariki kutokana na mtikisiko wa ubongo kwa kitaalamu, Brain Concussion,” alisema daktari huyo. Alisema Kanumba alipata mtikisiko wa ubongo ambao husababisha kufeli kwa mfumo wa upumuaji (cardio-respiratory failure) “Kilichomuua hasa ni mtikisiko wa ubongo, ambao endapo unatokea katika sehemu ya nyuma ya ubongo (cerebrum), huua kwa haraka” alisema daktari huyo na kuongeza kuwa mtikisiko wa ubongo  wa nyuma, husababisha matatizo ya mfumo wa upumuaji na hilo limeonekana katika mwili wake.

“Baada ya ubongo wake kutikiswa kwa nguvu, mfumo wa upumuaji ulifeli na ndiyo maana tumekuta kucha za Kanumba zikiwa na rangi ya bluu, huku mapafu yake yakiwa yamevilia damu na kubadilika kuwa kama maini, hizo ndizo dalili za kufeli kwa mfumo wa upumuaji.”

“Mtu aliyepata mtikisiko wa ubongo huweza kutokwa na mapovu mdomoni na hukoroma kabla ya kukata roho na ndivyo ilivyokuwa kwa Kanumba kabla hajafariki.”

Daktari mwingine aliyeshiriki katika uchunguzi huo ambaye pia aliomba jina lake lisitajwe alisema ubongo wa mwigizaji huyo ulikuwa umevimba na kushuka karibu na uti wa mgongo na hivyo kuathiri mfumo wa upumuaji.
Alisema sehemu ya maini na majimaji ya machoni ya marehemu, vimepelekwa kwa Mkemia Mkuu wa Serikali ili kubaini endapo kuna sumu au kitu kingine katika mwili huo.

Baba mzazi azungumza Baba mzazi wa mwigizaji huyo, Charles Musekwa Kanumba alisema kwamba alipata taarifa za kifo cha mwanawe Jumamosi saa 10:00 alfajiri baada ya kupigiwa simu na dada wa marehemu, Sara Kanumba.  “Sara aliniuliza: ‘Una taarifa yoyote kuhusu mwanao Kanumba?’ Nikamjibu kuwa sina taarifa yoyote, ndipo aliponieleza habari za kifo hicho. Aliniambia Kanumba hatupo naye tena amefariki kwa kuanguka, amekorofishana na mpenzi wake.”  alisema taarifa hizo zilimsababisha aishiwe nguvu kwa kuwa kilikuwa kifo cha ghafla… “Basi kuanzia hapo, nilianza kupigiwa simu za kupewa pole, ndipo nilipoamini kumbe mwanangu amefariki.”

 Akizungumzia kuchelewa kufika msibani, alisema kumetokana na tatizo la mawasiliano. Awali, alikuwa amepanga mtoto wake Kanumba akazikiwe Mwanza kwa babu yake ndiyo maana hakufika mapema msibani.   “Nilikuwa nimepanga apitishwe hapa kwangu Shinyanga aagwe, halafu tumpeleke Mwanza kwa babu yake kumzika huko lakini alipokuja mama yake alinishauri kuwa huko kutakuwa na nafasi ndogo kwa sababu watu ni wengi pia alikuwa na marafiki wengi, wengine wa kutoka nje ya nchi kwa hiyo alinishawishi na tukakubaliana kumzika Dar es Salaam,” alisema.

Pia alikanusha uvumi kuwa hajafika msibani kwa kuwa walikuwa na ugomvi na marehemu akisema walishamaliza tofauti zao. Alisema anatarajia kufika leo usiku tayari kushiriki mazishi hayo.

Wabunge  kilio Jana, baadhi ya wabunge waliofika nyumbani kwa marehemu Kanumba waliangua vilio wakati walipotoa salamu zao za rambirambi.
Mbunge wa Viti Maalumu, Martha Mlata hakuzungumza na badala yake aliimba kipande cha wimbo uliozungumzia kifo na maneno ya wimbo huo yalionekana kuwagusa wafiwa na kusababisha vilio kuanza upya huku baadhi wakipoteza fahamu.
Mbunge mwingine, Neema Mwinyimgaya aliongeza majonzi masibani hapo alipounganisha msiba huo na wa mama yake… “Mama yangu amefariki miezi mitatu iliyopita, huko uliko mama, nakuomba umpokee kijana mwenzetu,” alisema mbunge huyo na kushindwa kuendelea.

Wabunge wengine waliohudhuria msiba huo ni Ismail Aden Rage (Tabora Mjini), Aboud Juma (Kibaha Vijijini), Mussa Azan Zungu (Ilala), Abbas Mtemvu (Temeke), Peter Serukamba (Kigoma Mjini) na Ritha Kabati (Viti Maalumu).
 Kova na mchango wa Kanumba Kamanda wa Polisi Kanda Maalumu ya Dar es Salaam, Suleiman Kova alisema anakumbuka mchango wa Kanumba katika kuzuia uhalifu jijini.

“Tulishirikiana naye pamoja na wasanii wengine kuandaa bonanza maalumu ambalo lilidhamiria kukabiliana na uhalifu hapa jijini na kwa kweli mchakato ule ulifanikiwa kwani uhalifu ulipungua kwa kiasi kikubwa” alisema Kova.
“Kifo chake kimekuwa cha ghafla mno na nafikiri kujiweka tayari (kiimani) ni jambo ambalo kila mmoja anatakiwa kuwa makini nalo katika maisha yake,” alisema Kova.

Mwanzo, mwisho wa Steven Kanumba

“AMKA Kanumba, mama amekuja. Amka baba. Unameremeta baba, ndoa yako ya mwisho hii… kwaheri mwanangu,” ni maneno ya Mama Mzazi wa Steven Kanumba, Flora Mtegoa mara baada ya kuwasili nyumbani kwa marehemu Sinza, Dar es Salaam akitokea Bukoba.
Maneno hayo yaliyokuwa yakiambatana na kilio alikuwa akiyatoa huku akichanganya lugha za Kisukuma na Kiswahili alieleza jinsi alivyopata taarifa za msiba, adhuhuri ya Aprili 7.
Mara baada ya kuwasili Sinza, Vatican nyumba ya marehemu Kanumba ilizungukwa na umati wa waombolezaji, waliokuwa ndani walitoka kumpokea na hata wale waliokuwa jirani na eneo hilo walisogea wakitaka kumuona.
Kuwasili kwa mama huyo kuliongeza machungu kwa ndugu, jamaa, wasanii na mashabiki ya msanii huyo nguli kiasi cha baadhi yao kupoteza fahamu.

Kikwete aahirisha safari
Rais Jakaya Kikwete jana aliongoza mamia ya waombolezaji katika msiba wa msanii huyo akisema alilazimika kusitisha safari yake ya nje ya nchi ili kuungana na wananchi wengine katika maombolezo hayo.

“Nimeguswa na msiba huu, nilikuwa nisafiri lakini nimeamua kuja hapa kuwapa pole ndugu na wasanii wote,” alisema Rais.

Kanumba (28), ambaye anatarajiwa kuzikwa kesho katika Makaburi ya Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam alifariki dunia katika mazingira ya kutatanisha na hadi sasa Polisi inachunguza tukio hilo huku ikimshikilia msanii wa kike, Elizabeth Michael (Lulu).
Ndugu wa marehemu, Seth Bosco ambaye ana sura inayoshabihiana kwa karibu Kanumba alisema kauli ya mwisho kuisikia kutoka katika kinywa cha kaka yake huyo ilikuwa ni ‘nisubiri.’
Alisema jioni ya Aprili 6, mwaka huu, marehemu alimwambia angependa watoke kwenda matembezini pamoja.
“Ilipofika sita za usiku, nilimwambia kuwa mimi nimekwishajiandaa, akasema ‘nisubiri’ na kisha akaingia chumbani mwake,” alisema Seth na kuongeza:
“Kanumba akiwa chumbani kwake, aliingia binti mmoja, ambaye ninamfahamu kuwa ni mtu wake wa karibu. Kwa kuwa namfahamu, sikushangazwa na ujio wake, aliingia chumbani kwa Kanumba.”
Seth alisema baada ya muda, alisikia sauti zilizoonyesha mgogoro wa aina fulani kutoka chumbani humo na alipotaka kuingia, mlango ulikuwa umefungwa kwa funguo.

“Nilisikia Kanumba akimwambia Lulu; ‘Yaani unapigiwa simu na mwanamume wako mbele yangu?’ Baada ya dakika kadhaa za mzozo chumbani, Lulu alitoka akisema kuwa Kanumba ameanguka,” alisema Seth.
Alisema ripoti ya awali ya daktari inaonyesha kuwa marehemu hana jeraha lolote katika mwili wake… “Kama alisukumwa ukutani, basi lazima jeraha lingeonekana katika ubongo, lakini ripoti inaonyesha hana jeraha na mimi nilimkuta marehemu akiwa anatokwa na povu mdomoni, macho yamemtoka, huku akikoroma, cha ajabu hakutokwa damu… bado tunasubiri uchunguzi zaidi wa polisi.”
Akizungumzia msiba huo dada wa marehemu, Kabela Kajumulo alisema: “Ninachoweza kusema ni kuwa, tumepata pengo lisiloweza kuzibika.”

Wasanii wamwelezea
Wasanii wa filamu na muziki waliokuwa katika msiba huo walimwelezea marehemu Kanumba kwamba alikuwa ni mtu wa watu.
Akimzungumzia marehemu Kanumba, mmoja wa wasanii hao, Blandina Chagula (Johari), alisema alikuwa zaidi ya rafiki kwake akisema hawakujuana katika maigizo tu, bali walicheza pamoja tangu utotoni.
“Nimesoma na Kanumba Mwanza, Shule ya Msingi Bugoyi, lakini si hivyo tu, bali mama yake Kanumba na mama yangu ni marafiki wa karibu. Tulikutana tena hapa jijini, lakini yeye akisoma Shule ya Jitegemee mimi, shule nyingine, ndipo tulipojiunga katika maigizo katika Kikundi cha Kaole.”

Johari alisema amepata pigo kwa kuondokewa na Kanumba kwani alikuwa ni zaidi ya kaka na zaidi ya rafiki akisema alikuwa mshauri na alimuonya pale alipokosea.
Alitaja mambo matatu ambayo angependa wasanii wengine wamuige Kanumba. Aliyataja kuwa ni uchapakazi, kujihifadhi na ustaarabu…“Hana mfano wake, alikuwa ni mstaarabu, mwenye upendo na anayejiheshimu,” alisema Chagula.
Ruth Suka (Mainda) ambaye aliwahi kufanya kazi na marehemu Kanumba pia alimwelezea kuwa alikuwa miongoni mwa watu wachapakazi na wanaojiheshimu.
Alisema Kanumba alikuwa kijana mstaarabu na kabla hajawa maarufu, alikuwa akiogopa mno kuwa karibu na wanawake… “Ni mtu aliyejisitiri mno na mambo yake, lakini mazingira yake ya usanii yalimfanya aanze kuchangamka na kujichanganya na watu wa rika zote. Kwa kifupi ni mtu wa kanisa.”

Msanii mwingine ambaye pia alisoma na marehemu Jitegemee, Emmanuel Myamba alisema alikuwa na uhusiano wa karibu na kwamba alifahamu mambo mengi na kujifunza mwengi kupitia kwa marehemu.

Ujumbe wa mwisho
Aprili, 6 mwaka huu Kanumba alitoa ujumbe ulioonekana kutabiri kifo chake, akiyanukuu maneno ya Mwanafalsafa, Albert Pine yaliyosema:
“Tunachofanya kwa ajili yetu tunakufa nacho. Lakini tunachofanya kwa wengine na kwa ulimwengu, kinadumu na ni cha milele.”

Woman gives birth to twins from two wombs


A woman in the UK, who has two wombs, has revealed her experience of carrying twins - a baby in each womb - and giving birth to them.
Danielle Young, 29, is no stranger to medical complications. The homemaker revealed to parentdish.co.uk that she was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus at the age of 18.
Bicornuate uterus, also known as a uterus with two horns, is a condition where the womb is completely split in two and the two halves are sealed off from each other, making two separate wombs.
Young also has a double cervix and a double vagina. Seeing that one of her fallopian tubes is completely blocked, she could only conceive in one of her wombs. However, the small size of her womb would make it difficult to carry a child to full term.
So when it was discovered that she was carrying a baby in each womb, a five million to one chance, doctors told her to prepare for the fact that she might lose both babies. Keeping a close eye on the twins, Young also had to undergo weekly scans.
At six months,  Young went into premature labour forcing an emergency Caesarean.  Doctors successfully delivier Joshua, weighing at 1.08kg, and Leah, weighing at just 960g.
The twins had to be kept in hospital for a few months before they were discharged. They recently celebrated their fourth birthday and are now the correct height and weight for their age.
Miracle
Diagnosed with a host of reproductive complications, Young knew she had to face the possibility of never becoming a mother. However, since she loved children she, together with her 39-year-old husband, requested for in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment to increase their chances of conceiving.
Young, who loves children, unexpectedly got pregnant before the IVF treatment even began. She gave birth to her eldest child, Paige, in February 2007.
Five months later, she was pregnant with the twins.
Young revealed that when she looks at her three children, who survived against all odds, she is reminded that miracles really do happen.

Japanese woman who looks half her age reveals face without make-up

Mizutani Masako, the 44-year-old woman who is dubbed the most beautiful mother in Japan because of her youthful appearance, recently posted photos of herself without make-up on her blog.
The 44-year-old mother of two kids became an internet sensation when she revealed how she spent five hours a day on skin care routine, which made her look like she's in her twenties.
According to online sources, Ms Masako was born in 1968 and is a mother of two children.
She has become the idol of middle-aged women in Japan and is also a model for a magazine. She reportedly spends up to five hours a day on maintaining her skin.
