Teacher's party lifestyle draws parent's concern

SINGAPORE - A Physical Education (PE) teacher who posted photographs of his clubbing exploits on Facebook has drawn the ire of a parent.
In a posting on citizen journalism website Stomp, the parent, identified only as Anon, said she stumbled upon the teacher's profile when her daughter forgot to log out of the social media site.
The pictures she saw showed the teacher posing with various female companions, some with their arms around him.
The parent was upset that the teacher was pictured regularly with various female companions.
The parent said, "He had many photographs taken when clubbing and with different girls (seemingly of different nationalities) on different days in his profile pictures and mobile uploads which have attracted likes and comments from students.
"Exactly what message is he trying to send across with those photos on his profile?"
The parent's comment seems to have drawn the flak of netizens who have jumped to the teacher's defence.
A Stomp reader by the moniker of 'blackjix' said: "Over here you are complaining about the teacher taking photos with women and you invade your daughter's privacy.
"Look at yourself before you complain about others. Did you discuss with your daughter regarding this issue?"
Another known as SingaporeanMummy also voiced concern about the parent not respecting the teacher's privacy, "Teachers are humans too and need to enjoy themselves outside of work.
"They do not need to stress about how their students have done badly, misbehaving in class or getting complaints from parents all the time!"
But Anon does not stand alone with her views.
Another Stomp reader, princess11 believes that the teacher should have better protected himself by keeping his personal life, well, personal.
"The teacher must know what to post when there are children around. It is common sense.
"He could have created a separate Facebook account for his personal life."
