A secondary school girl was seen climbing over her school’s barbed-wire fence in an apparent attempt to play truant.

According to an eyewitness who sent in photographs to citizen journalism website Stomp, the incident took place in Woodlands at around 9.35am on Monday.

He claimed he saw the girl “moving to the edge of the gate” after she had climbed over the fence, and later running away.
“I called the school an hour later to inform them about the dangerous escape but to my surprise the office was not aware of the missing student.
“And I was told there wasn't a CCTV at that gate hence the escape,” he added.
“The security of the school could be improved.”

Photographs show the girl perched precariously on the top of the fence, with a fellow classmate looking on.
The name of the secondary school was not identified in the report.
