Harsh parenting? Poor boy locked out at 10pm

SINGAPORE - A Stomp reader was alarmed to see a young boy apparently locked out of his house late at night.

The reader sent in a picture of the boy clad in blue pyjamas, slumped on a chair just outside the door. He looked to be about 10 years old.
"Is this how parents should love and care for their child - by locking them out of the house at 10pm?

"I admit as kids we do get mischievous but this is not a way a parent should treat a child," said the reader.
This is not the first time parents in Singapore have been accused of harsh parenting measures.

In Feb this year, another reader spotted six-year-old boy left to do his homework alone in the dark, outdoors, and wondered why any parent would do such a thing.
"Leaving a young boy at night is such a dangerous thing to do - who knows what may happen during these 15 minutes."
