Pretty engineer in trouble with the law again

A young and pretty female engineer and kleptomaniac is in trouble with the law again.

Wu Li Ying, 30, has been caught for trying to cheat a woman of two branded handbags worth a total of $67,500.

Wu had struck a deal to buy two Hermes handbags from another woman, Wu Xin Ning, 21, through an online forum.

Wu Li Ying had led Wu Xin Ning to believe that she had already transferred the sum of $67,500 to the latter through the bank.

In return, Wu Xin Ning handed the two branded bags to Wu Li Ying.

Realising that she had been cheated, Wu Xin Ning, an Indonesian Chinese studying in Singapore, lodged a police report several days later.

In order to catch the cheat, Wu Xin Ning even devised and set up a trap to lure Wu Li Ying out.

Wu Li Ying had only been out of jail for three months when she had committed the crime.

She had earlier been jailed for six weeks in July this year when she stole again while out on bail.

Wu Li Ying was diagnosed with kleptomania when she was in primary three.

Kleptomania is a psychological condition that causes the sufferer to have irresistible urges to steal.

Wu has been convicted multiple times for theft and her family had even rallied around her to keep her from stealing again.

Her family accompanies and supervises her at all times, to and from work, and ensures she goes for treatments and takes her medication on time.

But their efforts have gone to waste with Wu's relapse.
